I have always liked the idea of unit fillers. So I am going to create some more and show off my work here. This is the first one I made a couple weeks back.

Home made Chariot

Hello all! i have been making myself some chariots from my bits box and decided to put the pictures of arduous work up here!

Returning to East Applebeach

As Crells and Finch were traveling back to East Applebeach they started talking about there next move.

"I say we trash there camps, burn ther forests and kill every last one of em sir" finch was understandably bitter about the herd in the woods near East Applebeach for they had plagued him and his family for generations, it was one of the reasons he eagerly joined the army in the first place.

"I understand your anger Finch, truly, but we can not hope to defeat these beastmen head on, it has never worked in the past and they had much larger armies and better equipment than us" Calm and collected Crell's was trying to diffuse Finch's anger because he knew all to well that a man fueled by hatred is a dead man, and he very much liked having finch and his untamed thoughts alive and kicking. "argh what ever sir, so what do you propose?" snapped Finch.

"You are not going to like this very much my dear freind, i propose we make peace and if possible recruit them to our side" "WHA....." came a loud burst from Finch but was quickly cut off by Crells
"Listen to me Finch, i have never lead you astray have i? they own the woods, they have lived there for centuries and nothing has ever shifted them from there, so why not approach them make a deal where they get to keep the woods they already have in exchange for helping us defend our borders from far more sinister creatures, chaos imbued men, abyssal deamons, madmen, orcs, an unhappy ogre khan, the list goes on and on. keeping his tone as polite as he could he finished his piece by laying his hand on Finch's shoulder.

"gah, i spose you might be on ter somfing cap. howd you propose we get this goin then?" came Finch voice with a hint of skepticism. "Hah one thing at a time dear freind, first thing we need to accomplish is getting us all back to East Applebeach and then filling everyones belly with the best and more importantly cheapest mead we can find!" laughed Crells. "so... gut rot then?" came Finch's witty reply.

A couple of scouts from East AppleBeach were watching a meeting taking place deep within the Sveekers woods. Two tree's sprawling into the heavens with a dense and dark canopy leered over 2 darkened figures huddled around a tree stump, thick spider web encroaching out from every nook and cranny in sight and more that could not be seen, .

One of the figures with a deep earthly rumble came a voice "we have seen them crush, those stumpy ignorant half men with ease, they crashed with our brethren and emerged with an army stronger than before despite our relentless assault" in reply came a growl with an underlying tone of seething rage it must have been hard not to shout "I . was .. there brother... this puny human deserves to ripped to shreds  for his offense against us"  the two figures continue conversing as a dank mist rolls over there meeting, gradually shrouding them until they could no longer be seen apart from a fading outline.

It was at this moment the scouts noticed they had seen that very same fading outline before, in fact it was all around them, before one of the scouts could gasp after his realization of the mortal danger they were in one of the shrouded outlines sprang forward from the mist with a huge cleaver swiping through the air leaving behind it a whistle in the wind and the head of one of the scouts, a clean and quick death at least,  with blood dripping from his axe blade this beastman gave a small smile towards the other scout who was holding up his sword to block a blow, unfortunately his fear made him forget how the members of the herd fight best, ambush and guerrilla tactics, the scout did realise this just before his death and he saw a reflection in the beasts eyes, those dark soulless eyes surrounded by matted fur on each side, scarred flesh covering a third of his face, yellow teeth as sharp as a dagger and a feeling of rage and hatred seeping from every pour on this loathsome beast. the reflection was quick, a flash of silver as another beast stepped out behind the terrified scout and drove his rusted sword deep into his neck ending his life.

Hello all!

There is a local tournament coming up in April, the 17th i believe just a small one, 3 games 1 day, i have decided to take beast herds(9th age) as that was requested by a few of you.

The next question is whilst i prepare lists and try to iron out the weaknesses into a hard core list, yes i am somewhat of a "ard-core gamer" in my own head at least. i will try to bring a rock solid list.

My question to all of my readers out there is:  Do you have any lists or units or combos you feel like i should test out. i will be limited by my model count but i shall try my hardest to get any and all models you request tourny worthy should the practice games go well strength wise.

2.5k beast herds vs ratmen.

Hello all, firstly apologies for the long delay between posts lately as i have been swamped at work though i hope this bat rep will help.

The army lists are-

Beast herds:
Beast lord - HA Hardened shield blade of strife, sprout of rebirtth.
Gnarled soothsayer level 3, tally of supreme shielding, D scroll, path of wilderness
Beast chieftain BsB args flayed hide, paired weapons totem bearer
Beast chieftan dark rain, axe of battle, chariot, HA shield totem bearer
40 wildhorns, paired weapons, FC, vet standard with beast banner
20 longhorns FC
5 centaurs, throwing weapons
1 razortusk
20 hounds Vanguard
6 minos paired weapons FC
1 jabber
20 wildhorns ambush paired weapons
20 wildhorns paired weapons ambush
giant, ambush looted booze

Ratmen:
Plaguepriest, lvl1, pendulum with upgrade, Blade of the swarm and armlet of power
Bsb on monstrous rat, hero sword, dragonhelm, shield, ha Lvl 1 ruin, scroll Assassin d3 wounds, tail weapon, potion of strength 35-ish monks fc, discipline 60 slaves, musikk 25 slaves 10 giant rats 10 giant rats 10 footpads, banner 10 footpads, skirmish and vanguard Rotary gun Rotary gun Globe launcher 9 grenadiers 6 gutter runners, scout, ambush, poison 6 gutter runners, scout, ambush, poison 6 jezails Hell pit Cannon Catapult with upgrade
The scenario was hold the center objective on a diagonal board.

Deployment saw us both putting down 1 unit at a time trying to out deploy each other as neither of us wanted the first turn that part of it became less important, with me having 3 units in ambush that i wanted on the table my T1 and him not wanting to shoot through -2 from dark rain.

Turn 1 Rats - saw a small amount of movement from the rats   Magic saw him placing a template down that causes difficult terrain tests (2)  and shooting saw a couple wounds here and there, the catapult killed 1 minotaur and wounded another but at the cost of not being able to fire again all game.

Turn 1 BH - all 3 ambushing units came in and all near each other  to try and maximize the pressure they posed, however i knew against that much shooting at close range and poison he was not long for the world, in hind sight it might have been better to try and play him more defensively and use the gors to destroy his war machines instead. the rest of my army moves up  as much as they can the minotaurs try and long charge against his plague monks but fail, the centaurs charged on of his skirmishing rat units with slings, they shrug off the stand and shoot, loose 1 to the combat and proceed to slaughter the remaining rats and overrun 5 inchs, oh and i forgot to move my jabber wacky. /sigh

Forgot to move my damn jabber...

Turn 2 Rats - the Plague monks  failed a charge against the razorgor, they needed an 8 and rolled a 4. The Abom crashed into the flank of my large 20 strong dog unit (a unit i regret not splitting into 2 units of 10) which as expected crushed them and made them flee off the table. the rest of his movement was mainly re-positioning putting rat re-directors in front of my units ect getting his shooting units where he wanted them,. Magic saw nothing go off. Shooting: the centaurs get shot at by a weapon team and loose 2 of there number and promptly break. the giant soaks up shooting from 4 or 5 units and dies but the other 2 gor units were left unharmed because of it!

Turn 2 BH - being a friendly game and not being very experienced with the new beast list (thanks v.99 and 13 point longhorns uurgh) i played a little more dangerously than i would normally, so i decided to charge the minotaurs and the razorgor into the plague monks hoping i could kill the bell/ priest i charged the re-directors to get them out of my way, the 2 gor units behind charged his weak units, 1 of them charged a unit of rats with slings and promptly destroyed them the other charged his jezzails and ate them and pursued them down. however this also put both units in easy charges of his BSB on a chariot monster and the abom, did they make there points back? 1 of them did, the confusion and re-positioning they demand is valuable and i also played them slightly wroung, all in all though i am well pleased with this 130 point unit. Magic saw nothing again, my magic rolls were terrible all game and the only good roll i made got scrolled. also my 2 centaurs rallied. In combat my minotaurs did 2 wounds to the priest and got chewed up in return the razorgor fled.

Turn 3 Rats - as predicted the BSB went into 1 gor ambushing unit and the abom into the other. the plague monks charged the razortusk which fled then he redirected into the jabber which also fled and he failed to catch me resulting in a failed charge. his slaves moved infront of both my big blocks of infantry a whopping 60 slaves, guess its good arm swinging practice, the rest of his army shuffles around to get into better positions. Magic saw 3+ regen on the abom. nothing else, shooting saw my gors take some damage and 1 wound on my jabber and to my amusement one of his weapon teams misfired spun around and shot at his BSB fighting my gors, killing 2 gors and putting 1 wound on his BSB. Combat : the Abom destroyed the Gors as predicted but the BSB was unable to break the unit.

Turn 3 BH i Charged the slaves with my Long horns and Wildhorns, my cheiftan on chariot and 2 centaurs. the jabberwocky rallied the razorgor did not. no other movement as my army was pretty damaged by this point and all my units were on my left flank moving around. Magic saw the beast within go off on the gors and the +1 attack totem and raging storm on his cannon. combat saw me kill 41 slaves in total knocking them down to 19 and only 3 ranks disabling there steadfast and auto breaking. the gors and chariot overrun while the longhorns reform. the BSB manages to break my ambushing gor unit but does not chase them down,

Turn 4 Rats : The Abom makes a long charge into my gor unit, rolling 15 on its move, i was quite ok with this as i had +1 S and T and +1 Attack and armour pierce 2. the plauge monks failed another charge against my jabber. the BSB turns around to give his re roll to the abom. Magic saw the regen spell going through, 4 power vs 2 dispell, he throws  all his dice and then applies the attribute to give the abom +1T making it T6 with 3+ regen (fudge). combat saw him decimate my gor unit, killing around 16 gors. 3d6 attacks + thunderstomp killed 16 gors, the gors with the beast banner, beast within, and the attack totem did 1 wound... 1.... he broke the gors and ran them down.

The rest of the game was basically me charing his abom with my long horns, failing to do any damage in the first round (dough) taking 8 causalities but killing it (thank god) the turn after when the buffs wore off, the chariot and the jabber charged his bell, the jabber died before it could attack and he was in the rear. he did 4 wounds to it from just 1 rank of models, at str 3.... and i hada 4+ save....  the chariot got into a challenge and the 6 attacks from the chieftan (axe of battle + totem) did 1 wound but he did stick for 1 round untill the bell ground him to dust. after that my long horns stood by the objective and his plague monks did the same,

Result, we both had the objective with in grasp but i lost massively from a victory points standing.

Thoughts: i dis like hte 40 points upgrade for giant to ambush, he has become far to expensive to ambush now, the 20 gor strong ambushing units are divine and i will use them a lot more.
the beasty banner is gorgeous with out having to worry about protecting your naked BSB you can take this and alot cheaper too, the one turn only takes some time to adjust to sure but it does not break the unit imo, being as cheap as they are its a lovely little surprise. dogs seem.. well useless, maybe i used them wroung or maybe they only work in certain match ups or situations now, but 10 minimum models hurts them far too much and if i remeber to bring my raiders i would have used them instead imo.

Loved the game even though i lost Ready for the next!!

Will update with pics soon, (my internet is strange and decided to not upload any pics today, will try tomorrow.

Updated with pictures, the pic taken was last min and i had to use my phone instead of the misses beautiful camera so please excuse the poor quality pics

The Future!

After a fair few games with Kings of war and my Kingdoms of men armies i have felt the urge to mix it up a little.

I have always Loved Beastmen/the herd/Beast Herds. I love the models, fluff and play style and with that in mind i will be including more content based around my Beastmen collection, Battle reports, lists, theory ect ect ect.

I hope anyone that follows this blog is ok with that.

I would also like to open up something a little new, i would like to have the community have some input, if there is an army list (beastmen or empire) for 9th or KoW that you want to see in action, a fluffy list, hardcore list, or even just one specific unit, then let me know and i will do my best to make it happen!!

Thank to everyone for there continued support.

Close ups.

Hi everyone! i wanted to post some of my better painting skills of singular models! i am getting the beastmen/Herd itch and so you will be seeing this blog mold into a duality between the two armies!

First off is just my regular soldiers that fill the
ranks of my army !

Secondly Comes the man himself! Crells close up.

not being the best painter in the world i tried sticking to the few techniques  that i know of and tried to use a combination of colours to try and make the model pop.

Now comes some more interesting models, here is what ive been working on for my Herd interaction with my kingdoms of men army, 2 of the models i did years ago but the bestigor model i did today in about 80 mins.

Please let me know what you think! and if you have any tips for painting then please share them i am eager to improve !

Post Blockers-gate Field

Light glimmered off a bead of sweat dripping from Crell's helmet, in its reflection there was carnage all around and as suddenly as it came into life the bead was flung as Crells jerked his head back as a Dwarven axe swiped by his face, the blade was so close Crell could hear a faint whistling sound, his response was sudden and precise as soon as the axe passed him out thrusted his sword arm driving it deep into the neck of his combatant putting down yet another dwarf.

"Cap, CAP! you a-right sir?" came the all to familiar sound of Finch Crell's right hand man.
"I saw that 10 of those bastards rushing for you and ignoring the rest of us like lame horses !, such villans!"  in a calm voice Crells replied "Im fine finch, but how are the men? i saw Betsy had  turn back after they tried bombarding her with rocket and rocket after rocket, i am pretty sure i also saw them throwing some kind of demonic dogs at her too!!"  " oh she is fine,i made sure she got out of danger before she took a serious hit, and aye i was on top of her when they "fed her" those dogs, not a scratch on her from those little muts and then she opened her mouth and they were gone, as fer the rest o the army, we lost our mounted scouts sir, brave souls, but we seem to be winning, the Dwarf lines seem to be breaking, we will send them back to the abyss in no time at tall sir!" Finch also sounded full of glee when talking to Crells.

Looking over the battlefield he saw a rest mist on the horizon as the sun was struggling to stay up, wisps of smoke leading from those infernal Rocket launchers, A charm of finches were flying in unison overheard, under the horizon he could see a sea of bodies, horses and dwarves culminate into a swirling mass of endless bloodshed, walking running and dancing on downtrodden soil, mud being flung in every direction, the sound was no better, cries of pain, anguish, pride, hate, anger, every emotion was being voiced unbder the constant Thud of the artillary in this maddening sprawl of grass and mud they called Blockers-gate field and then in stopped.

"we did it cap! we did it! under your generalship we beat those good fer nothin Abyss loving dwarfs!" finch came running up all the soilders under Crell's banner were cheering.

A little later while the wounded were being cared for, the dead being laid to rest and over came Finch with some of the other regimental leaders, they were carrying something with them.

"here ya go Cap, we found this among the Dwarfs command tent, the scallywags left it when they fled with there tails tween there legs!" came Finch's voice, the other 3 gentlemen all voiced there approval and so Crell's took the Cape, shoulder guard, helmet and dwarven crafted longsword.

"Thank you all, this is a big victory for us, one of many i'm sure, but now we must face our enemy at home, we must finish our business with The Herd or we will never be safe" Crells said with as much authority he could muster.

"HERE HERE" came the reply

With new Armour and weaponry Crells is starting took the part of a truly heroic General of Men.

2000 point battle, KoM vs Abyssal dwarfs

This is a battle report between KoM and abyssal dwarfs, it was against a good friend of mine and we both had a blast,

KoM Turn 1 went to the kingdoms of men! on my left flank i moved up my mounted scouts to force a reaction from his flying lord to either charge or retreat both of which i was ok with, to support the scouts i positioned my war beast to counter charge his lord, the rest of my army moved up. Shooting saw 4 wounds on his heavy mortar from my ballista nothing else was in range or missed.

AD Turn 2 - the dwarf lord charged my mounted scouts and routed them in one swift go leaving himself open to a counter charge by my war beast. the rest of his army moved up, his grotesques moved into charge range on my knights on the right flank and his shooting all missed.

KoM turn 3 - The war beast sensing easy pray charged forth into his lord dealing a total of 6 wounds (from 7 attacks) and wavering him! My knights charged into the grotesques and the dice gods were with me as i was able to dish out 11 wounds from 16 attacks and routed them dishing a massive blow to the dwarfs after which the Knights reformed for better charges line. during the shooting phase the heavy rifles in combination with my ballista and lightning bolts put on a ton on wounds on the obsidian golems and was able to rout them aswell! Turn 3 dealt a massive blow to the dwarfs but they were far from defeated.

AD Turn 4 - the wavered dwarf lord back up and had his infernal guard move infont of him to block a charge from my warbeast, The decimaters moved around the building to shoot at my knights point blank, both his infernal guard regiments move up and throw there mutated puppies, both the war beast and a regiment of foot guard had to fight off these crazed hounds, the war beast took no damage as he just opened his mouth and got a little snack( woof ) while the foot guard took a single wound.
The mighty heavy mortar missed again, the decimaters and a wizard were able to put 4 wounds onto the knights while another lightning bolt his the same foot guard regiment that fought off the puppies and took 4 more wounds, to add to that one of his rocket launchers hit my heavy rifles and did 3 wounds to them while his 2nd rocket launcher put 2 wounds on the, untill now, unhamred footguard regiment. The Kingdoms of men held fast and not 1 unit wavered.

KoM Turn 5 A very bad turn for the KoM i charge my warbeast into a regiment of infernal guard and regiment of footguard into the other infernal guard unleash all my artillary into his lord. my Knights into his decimaters, A shield wall regiment charges his Orc slaves, end result is nothing i do 2 or 3 wounds to each of the infernal guard/orc slaves units and the knights failed to break the decimators but did disorder so they were looking down a crap ton of shooting or a counter charge and worst of all the lord took all my shooting and i did not managed to wound him!

AD turn 6 - His lord flies over my army to land next to a wizard and fireballs him to death, the decimaters choose to stand back and not counter charge my knights but instead let his rockets and mortar fire at them instead dealing a few wounds but not breaking them! Infernal guard regiments both counter charged the same units again this time however they got results, they managed to waver the warbeast who had taken a total of 11 wounds now and routed the footguard regiment, the slave orcs counter charged my shield wall regiment did 6 wounds and rolled a rout on the nerve roll which was saved on the inspiring.

KoM turn 7 - The knights charged into the decimaters and decimated them! the wwarbeast backs up while a shield wall regiment and footguard troop charge the infernal guard regiment that dispacthed there brohters and manged a few wounds and bounce off.all shooting directed at his lord managed 1 wound which he passed his nerve test for. Shield wall regiment + footguard regiment + footguard troop all charge the slave orcs and managed to put 11 wounds on them but did not waver them.

AD turn 8 - the slave orcs rolled yellow belly for there charge and instead stood there dumbfounded, 1 infernalguard regiment charged the warbeast and finished it off the other Infernal guard regiment charged the footguard troop and routed it in one round of combat, 2 dwarf rockets and mortar turned to the knights and wiped them off the face of the planet while the 3rd rocket hit the other footguard troop and wavered them Dwarf lord fireballs another wizard. Hope is fading as the knigdoms of men seemed to have lost the ability to damage the dwarf units while taking sever damage in return.

KoM turn 9 - instead of charging the lone shield wall regiment back into the infernal guard regiment that i had been trying to kill all game they instead marched past it allowing my heavy rifles and ballista to open fire dishing out 10 wounds and routing them! 1 of the ballista however shot at the heavy mortar routing it, the shield wall regiment with the footguard regiment charged the orcs again and routed them.

Thus the batlte ends with the Abyssal dwarfs conceding, at the end of the game the dwarf player had 3 rocket launchers left his lord on 9 wounds 1 infernal guard regiment with around 13 wounds on it and his wizard! while the KoM still had, albeit damaged, a horde of heavy rifles 1 wizard 2 standard bearers 2 regiements of shield walls 1 regiment of footguard  2 ballista.

Resounding victory to the KoM!!! HUUZZAH

P.S. my apologise for the bad pics and not filtering them within the battle rep intself, i am still trying to get use to this and it turns out hte pics i took were pretty bad and did not really represent the  battle as a whole but i deicded to put them in anyway for a bit of context.
